A memorable tripmoa park hut

Porter Rock – Saturday 6 May 2017

By meeting at 7.30am in Richmond it meant that we were walking from Canaan by 9am. A beautiful clear, still day made this a memorable trip for all eleven participants. By morning tea time we were at the lookout point above Wainui Saddle. From here it was all mainly walking in the bush with the exception of a more open area around Moa Park Shelter. Our timing was perfect as we arrived at Porter Rock bang on midday.  From here we could see Tasman Bay to the east and Golden Bay to the northwest.  Fortunately we had a calm and relatively clear day. After a relaxing lunch break we retraced our steps back to the Canaan carpark, arriving there around 4pm.  The trip was approximately 6 hours return from Canaan. Thanks to the Woolshed Café for serving us a cuppa so close to closing time.

Those on the trip were: Rob, Maria, Lesley G, Donell, Julian, Lou, Chrissie, and visitors Peter, Diane, Anne and Geoff W.
