Fringed Hill via Third House circuit – Sunday 10 September 2017

A group of 13 keen trampers set of from OK Corral at 8.15am, walking up the old Dun Mountain railway route to Third House for a very pleasant morning tea break sitting in warm sunshine. From Third House it was a short walk to the junction where we branched off the Dun track and onto the more demanding Black Diamond Ridge track to the top of Fringed Hill which made the perfect and timely stop for lunch while taking in the panoramic views of Nelson, Tasman Bay and beyond. Our route back to OK Corral was via the service road and we reached the car park at 3pm, just in time before a downpour of rain.

Quick facts: overall time 6 hours 45 minutes, distance 19km, Fringed Hill 793m altitude, highest point 839m, start at OK Corral at 70m, moderate grade. Those on tramp were Esther, Eric, Julian, Donell, Lesley G, Alison, Jo, Chris, Marian W, Robert, Marian H, Colin and Valerie.                                         Eric & Esther
